Lipoedema Surgery – Case 4

This 58-year-old patient suffered from a large hole in the heart, which was consequently closed, and varicose veins that were treated with Dr Lekich before proceeding with LipoExtraction. This meant the risk of surgery was greatly reduced by decreasing the risk of blood clots, bleeding and fat going to the lungs and brain, during surgery.

Surgery was staged as a day surgery case with a minimally invasive, bilateral (both legs together) procedure, resulting in 7 litres of fat being removed from the lower and upper legs, which includes fat around the knees.

Hi Marium, surgical costs differ with every patient, depending on their condition and the number and type of treatments required.  Our doctors will confirm your diagnosis, as well as assess your general health and any comorbidities during the initial consult.  They will also determine if you are a suitable candidate for surgery, and can then provide a suitable treatment plan along with associated costs following the initial consultation.
As a general rule, most patients need 2-3 surgeries (depending on the progression of the disease) with the typical cost of surgery around $13,500 per surgery. Each surgery takes place typically 2 months apart. This surgery fee is comprehensive and includes all costs for the surgery namely the hospital bed and facility fee, the overnight accommodation fee, the consumable costs, anaesthetist fee and the surgery fee.
